Dipping your toe

You can read all the right literature and talk to all the right people but, ultimately, the only way of determining whether Linklaters is right for you is to work here. Our vacation schemes are ideal for giving you a real-life taste of the firm.

One of the things that we’re very sensitive to is giving you a clear and, above all, realistic view of our people and our work. Our ultimate aim is to give you a genuine, uncensored version of reality so you will have solid foundations for your decision-making.

You will go through a thorough selection process to win a place on the scheme, but once you start, the emphasis is on adding to your skills rather than testing you. We’ll treat you just like a trainee. You’ll sit down with a principal and be involved in real deals. You will work hard, but you will also enjoy a very active social life.

Our summer vacation scheme lasts four weeks, which will be split between our Hong Kong office and our mainland China offices. This programme promises deep immersion into the firm. Morning seminars will introduce you to various aspects of the firm, so that, gradually, you’ll piece together the bigger picture.

The work experience comprises seats in two different practice areas, each lasting two weeks. In that time, you’ll tackle a business project of your own to help you come to grips with the various resources and research facilities available to you. Towards the end of your placement, you’ll present a client pitch to an experienced lawyer for constructive feedback and advice.

We are currently taking applications for our summer clerkship programme 2009. To apply complete the appropriate online application form. If you have any further queries please email asiagraduates@linklaters.com.
