There’s a Know-How team based in each of our offices in Asia. While these offices are smaller than their UK counterparts, they each have an Information Officer who’s responsible for major practice groups. They’re seen as the ‘keepers’ who provide direct support to the lawyers. We also have a well-stocked library, with a readily available selection of books and transactions that focus on English, US and local law. If you can’t find what you need, there’s an online ‘Know-How’ page. The Know-how team work very closely with Professional Support Lawyers, to ensure you’re getting the right level of support. Our Professional Support Lawyer in Tokyo was the first ever to be recruited in Japan; and there are three PSLs in Hong Kong itself.
Added to that, there are lots of additional support materials including a local database. Lawyers in Asia often require access to UK information, and we’ve made sure that the information is easy to find. We’ve also created a ‘clause bank’, so we can go into our work software and choose from a ‘shopping list’, which helps the whole drafting process.
