Operations covers a vast array of services. Premises and Facilities covers engineering, front of house, building services, travel, catering, security, deeds and records, distribution, helplines, switchboards and service desks. Practice services, meanwhile, offers support in the form of print services, word processing, proof reading, legal support and digital services. It’s a diverse team, certainly. But paradoxically, it’s also one of the most tightly knit you’re likely to find, with a friendly, collaborative and above all supportive atmosphere.
What’s more, everyone shares a passion for getting things done. Whether you’re talking to partners or Operations colleagues, you’ll be working with people who are pulling in the same direction as you. The department is filled with subject specialists – high achievers who want to challenge how things are done, and who want to get things done together.
In the UK, our focus is increasingly on building and empowering cross-functional teams, and integrating Operations on a global scale. For example, our switchboard in Colchester recently worked with our New York office and came up with a novel initiative: Colchester now answers the telephones for our New York office in the evenings, so that our receptionists in New York can concentrate on offering the highest level of service to visitors.
We also aim to be a pioneer in the way we use and develop our resources, technology and thinking. If you find a way to improve any aspect of how – or where – we work, we’re not afraid to listen and (if you can prove it works) invest in it substantially.
There’s no escaping that this is a fast-moving, high-pressure environment. Things can and do change quickly. That’s the challenge of working here; but it’s also why it’s exciting. At Linklaters, we can give you the chance to get involved in high-end work that will test your thinking, and the opportunity to develop your skills to the height of your potential.
