What we look for

It is worth dispelling a few myths to start with. Many people think that to join an international law firm like Linklaters, you need to have no more room for stamps in your passport, and be fluent in 12 different languages, including the finer points of Kikuyu and one or two Sino-Tebetan dialects. That is simply not the case. We need intelligent and outgoing individuals who can make exciting things happen on an international stage, but you do not need to be multilingual, or have vast experience of different cultures or countries, to be able to do that.

There is no such thing as a typical Linklaters attorney, so there is no such thing as a typical recruit or typical lateral associate hire. We value what each individual can bring to the business: because we are growing, there is every chance that your skill sets could expand ours.

Broadly speaking, we are looking for people who will make the most of everything Linklaters has to offer: people who will work hard, develop fast and take responsibility early. You will need analytical intelligence, a high level of attention to detail, and people skills to work well with colleagues and clients. Finally, because our client base consists primarily of multinational business organizations, it is important to show a genuine interest in business, the financial world, and the challenges of corporate law.
