Jason started work with Linklaters' New York office after graduating from Fordham University's School of Law. He has recently begun a client secondment in Singapore. In the three years that he’s been with the firm, he’s discovered that this kind of opportunity is normality at Linklaters.
“I’d always wanted to work in an international firm. But the reality of global work still surprises me. It’s not a case of just hearing about what’s going on in London or Hong Kong – I’m working on cross-border transactions every single day. And if that means travelling or going on secondment, the partners I work with are really receptive to making that happen.
“In fact, if they’re good for my development and good for the business, there are very few restrictions placed on the things I can do. That’s part of the ‘open door’ culture here. From very early days I was dealing with clients directly and liaising with senior colleagues. Hierarchy is something that we just don’t have here.
“I’m given a lot of freedom. The secret is making the most of that – managing my workload so that I enjoy a good work-life balance, but never miss a chance to push myself.”
