Carsten Bremer joined Linklaters’ Real Estate practice in 2004 and is now a Managing Associate in Berlin. He talks about the changes he has experienced in his career to date – and the different perspectives they have given him.
“Linklaters isn’t a collection of disparate offices – it’s a single, coherent firm, with one coherent culture. And that can only open up opportunities. Take me, for example. I started my career with Linklaters in Frankfurt, but when an opportunity arose in Berlin, I jumped at the chance to gain a fresh perspective. It was a big change – I had to move my entire family with me – but Linklaters offered exceptional support, and made the change very smooth and stress-free.
“I have also been lucky enough to have experienced a six-month client secondment recently, which has further altered my view, and given me a new insight into how to communicate and work with clients. Now in my work, I can see issues and problems from their point of view and can adapt my working style accordingly. In my opinion, every lawyer should try to expand his or her horizons as much as possible. It can, after all, only make you stronger.”
