Siska Ghesquiere arrived for a summer internship at Linklaters (where she is now an Associate in Mainstream Corporate, in Brussels) with little knowledge of the firm. She describes some of the things that took her a little off-guard.
"One of the things that most surprised me – and that I most enjoy – is that we always work with people. We collaborate with clients to make things easier for them. And we cooperate with each other as colleagues: there’s a true sense of teamwork and of delivering the best possible solution to the client. You could also say that I was pleasantly taken aback by how down-to-earth, how approachable and how friendly everyone is here.
"Perhaps that kind of atmosphere is no surprise. Linklaters regularly plan events or away days – often purely social – to help foster the right environment. During the last two years, our team has enjoyed visits to London and Paris.
"But the cooperation also extends past office walls – and national boundaries. I’ve worked on deals with many Linklaters offices around the world, and every one of them has been consistently reliable, talented and helpful. It’s almost like you’re working with them all in one office."
