We are strong believers at Linklaters that there is always more to learn, and always more to explore – even when you reach the highest levels of the firm.
It starts the very moment you join. Wherever you are in the world, we’ve put together a wide-ranging induction that will familiarise you with the ins and outs of Linklaters on both a local and global level. You will be given a comprehensive orientation to your office, meet a range of people from various parts of the firm, and gain a broad overview of how we work.
But this is only the beginning. Throughout your career, you will benefit from a broad range of structured training to cover the practice area in which you’re based. This could involve seminars, interactive programs, internal talks or external courses. Occasionally, you will travel to another part of the world; but equally, many of our seminars are also recorded and broadcasted online, and so will be available to you wherever you are based. In many cases you’re also encouraged to gain an understanding of other areas of law, to give you a broad overview, and further strength in depth to draw from.
However, a career here is as much about building your professional skill set as it is about developing your legal expertise. We’ll also develop your skills in more generic areas such as commercial awareness, communication skills, or negotiation. All of this is, of course, tailored to your individual needs. As you develop in your role and take on new responsibilities, we will give you training on matters such as winning new business, profitability or people management.
In the end, we want to provide a level of training above and beyond the usual. This is why we are investing heavily in the development of our lawyers. It’s why, for example, we have achieved CLE accreditation in the US. And it’s why you, as a lawyer, will continue to be stretched and developed with training at every stage.
