Commercial Awareness – The Fundamentals of a Deal

What really do law firms mean when they say “commercial awareness”?

Understanding how to analyse a story reported on the business pages and its implications for the legal sector and, specifically, a law firm’s clients is crucial. However, this is only the start. Incoming trainees are expected to have a solid grasp of the basics of commercial transactions. This session will go beyond the general rationale for the transactions international businesses engage in and will examine the legal mechanics involved in such transactions. Applying a case study approach, Jivaan Bennett (Senior Associate, LAI) will talk attendees through some of the key legal processes and jargon which they need to master in order to succeed at assessment centres.
