Lateral Recruitment Manager, HR

I initially qualified as a barrister in 2003. After a couple of years, I realised that working as a lawyer probably wasn’t for me so, following a brief stint working in television, I crossed over into the world of legal HR. I joined Linklaters in 2017 to manage a resourcing team, and to take charge of the lateral hiring of global Partners.

The Linklaters brand is synonymous with the quality of its legal advice and people. And I love the fact that my role is pivotal in the firm's strategic growth. My team facilitates the hire of every lateral partner, anywhere in the world, so we can make a real difference to each candidate’s experience of the firm. We’re talking about some key players in the legal world, so it’s great to have exposure to some of the greatest legal minds out there.

In order to support the best lawyers in the market, the firm employs the best staff for its business teams My colleagues are a group of very talented and impressive individuals. A Linklaters employee should be full of ideas, prepared to work hard and achieve high standards, and be confident dealing with stakeholders at every level.

There’s a genuine team throughout the firm. Linklaters cares about its people, and the facilities they provide for staff in London are second to none. There’s always internal training and development available to business teams and legal staff. And Linklaters embraces flexible working. By providing us with cutting edge technology, they allow us to operate as if we’re in the office wherever we are in the world. The HR team has also just gone open plan. This is pretty revolutionary for a Magic Circle firm, but the transition has been fantastic, and I now feel closer to my team than ever before.

One of the startling things about Linklaters is that people stay at the firm for a very long time. You don’t have to change firm to change your role, and there are opportunities to move sideways into different business teams if you have a change of heart about your career direction. And as a truly global firm, there are also lots of opportunities for international travel.
