I enjoyed English and Maths at school and was keen to study a vocational subject. I then went to university to study law, where I applied to Linklaters’ Summer Vacation Scheme. The rest is history.

 

At Linklaters, we work hard as a team, whether we’re problem-solving or delivering complex transactions for top clients. In fact, work is always rewarding as every day has some exciting new challenge. For instance, recent work increasingly environmentally focussed – whether sustainability linked financings or work to directly support carbon transition projects. This includes offshore wind farms, and advising the UK government on its new nuclear strategy.

 

At the same time, Linklaters people are hugely supportive of each other’s goals and ambitions – everyone is exceptionally generous with their time even when they’ve got lots of work to get through. And there’s a real sense of shared values – whether we’re learning something new or training one of the bright new stars of the future.

 

Linklaters is also hugely diverse and people have a lot of respect for one another, whatever their background. And the people love to have fun! Whether that’s in the office, or at an after-work event, such as a quiz, darts night or a hike – to name just a few activities.

 

To any student embarking on a career in law, I’d give them one piece of advice – be open to trying new things and throw yourself into every opportunity. You may go into the business thinking you want to specialise in one area – but by being open – you might find yourself being a completely different kind of lawyer in a few years’ time.
