I first joined Linklaters as a summer vacation scheme student in 2019, during the penultimate year of my studies at the University of Hong Kong as an LLB student. I started my training contract with Linklaters in 2021 and am currently a second-seat trainee in Structured Finance and Derivatives.

As trainees, we have the opportunity to rotate through different teams throughout our training contract. Linklaters’ range of practice groups are recognised for their market-leading expertise, and trainees are provided with opportunities to work on cutting-edge deals that pioneer the development of new areas in the legal and commercial world. I have had a truly enriching experience throughout the past year of my training contract, having been given the opportunity to work on some of these deals, such as green loans and structured note issuances on the blockchain. Along with this exposure, the guidance, support and training that I have received have been invaluable to my personal and professional development.

Beyond our work, what really sets Linklaters apart from the rest is the firm’s culture. The collegiate and collaborative culture at Linklaters creates an environment that allows us to grow as individuals and as a team, as you will always feel supported no matter the challenge. This culture of collaboration remains the same throughout our global network – given the international element of our work, I have had the chance to work with our London, Singapore, Paris and Tokyo offices. I have learned a lot from the people that I have worked with, and have always felt valued as a member of the team. As long hours are inevitable in this industry, the people you are surrounded by really make a difference.
